The Duncansfield side were outplayed by a very good Cambuslang team who had the game wrapped up at 3-0 by half-time and merely played out time after scoring a fourth goal within seconds of the restart.

Although there wasn't much in it in the first few minutes, it was soon very obvious that the speedy Cambuslang attack was going to pose a few problems.

Callum McRobbie in particular was causing havoc down the left and put in a great shot which David Kane put over for a corner, from which former Clyde striker John Gemmell headed in a very fine goal.

It was mainly one way traffic thereafter and it came as little surprise when Chris Duff added a second with a good strike from about 18 yards after just 25 minutes.

There was a further blow to Rangers hopes of making a comeback when Scott Davidson limped off with a foot injury as half-time neared.

Phil Dolan replaced him but another goal from Duff almost on the whistle virtually ended all hopes.

Within seconds of the restart it really was all over. Duff completed his hat-rick and thereafter it was no contest. The pace of the game slowed almost to a standstill and despite further changes on both sides it never really got going again.

The closest Kilsyth came to a goal came late in the game when Iain Stewart had to make a very fine save from a Dolan effort.

Next up for Kilsyth in a hectic schedule as they catch up on a winter backlog is a trip to Renfrew on Saturday.

They then make the short journey to Guy's Meadow on Monday for the derby with Cumbernauld United and host Maryhill at Duncansfield next Wednesday.
