With both men having given superb contributions in helping the Steelmen finish third in the coronavirus-shortened 2019-20 Scottish Premiership, they have made the final shortlist in the Scottish Football Writers Association Awards, in the Manager and Young Player categories respectively.

Northern Irish manager Robbo (45) - who made wholesale changes to the playing squad last summer - had Motherwell playing attractive, attacking football for much of the season and progressed the careers of new signings like Declan Gallagher, Liam Polworth and Chris Long.

Incredibly, Motherwell's third place finish was achieved on a shoestring budget and despite not having star midfielder David Turnbull - who would have joined Celtic for £3.25 million last summer but for a troublesome knee injury which was subsequently operated on - out for virtually the whole campaign.

Despite that, Motherwell finished higher up than clubs with much bigger resources including Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts, the latter of whom ended up being relegated.

Meanwhile, combative and skilful midfielder Campbell was arguably the Steelmen's most consistent performer during the campaign, making 37 appearances in league and cups and netting six goals.

And the 21-year-old played all five qualifiers for Scotland under-21s in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

Robinson and Campbell will find out if they've won their respective awards within a fortnight.

Robbo is up against Celtic manager Neil Lennon, Arbroath boss Dick Campbell and Livingston gaffer Gary Holt in his category, while Campbell takes on Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson, St Johnstone’s Ali McCann and Hearts defender Aaron Hickey.
