Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Hamilton Accies – the Steelmen’s fourth blank in front of goal in their first five Premiership games – followed a familiar pattern with plenty of possession but an inability to take scoring chances before Accies’ Hakeem Odoffin headed in from point blank range following an 85th minute corner.

“I think when you dominate the game like that you can’t be getting beaten,” ex-Inverness Caley striker White (28) told the Times and Speaker.

“The goal’s sloppy but we’ve had more than enough chances and I think we just need something to drop for us.

“It’s not for the want of trying. We just need to have that wee bit more ruthlessness in us and like I say get something dropping for us and get that wee bit of luck.

“For some reason it’s just not happening for us just now. Their keeper (Ryan Fulton) had a right few saves.

“That’s hurting that one, it really is.

“I can’t describe how I’m feeling just now. It’s a sore one. That will be a sore one for the fans, they’ll be disappointed and rightly so.

“It’s hard because I’m one of the forwards. I take responsibility when we don’t score as the other forwards will as well.

“Personally I’m hot happy with how the game went. I think at times we can do more.

“We’ve set the standard of how we want to play and when you don’t do it it’s really disappointing and it does hurt.

“Looking at it in black and white there’s four games we’ve not scored. At the end of the day fingers get pointed at the forward players.

“I’m always happy to take that on the chin. But we maybe need that wee bit of luck.”

’Well are languishing in 10th place in the league – only off the bottom on goal difference – hardly the ideal situation heading into a crucial week which sees them host Glentoran in the Europa League first qualifying round at Fir Park tomorrow night (Thursday, kick-off 7.45pm) before visiting reigning champions Celtic in the league this Sunday, KO 3pm.
