Here are the last ten Scottish Premiership opening day results for Motherwell:

2019/20 - Livingston 0-0 Motherwell

Despite recording four wins from four in their Betfred Cup group matches Stephen Robinson’s men could only labour to a goalless draw at the Tony Macaroni arena.

2018/19 - Hibs 3-0 Motherwell

A heavy defeat to kick off the campaign at Easter Road as Stevie Mallan’s free kick put the hosts 1-0 up and Oli Shaw (now at tonight’s opponents Ross County) made it two on the stroke of half time. Martin Boyle completed the scoring in the second half on a disappointing day for the ‘Well.

2017/18 - Motherwell 1-2 Rangers

Rangers visited Fir Park to kick off Motherwell’s season on a Sunday afternoon and Graeme Dorrans had the visitors ahead on four minutes. Ben Heneghan brought the hosts level with a header five minutes before the break but a careless elbow by Louis Moult gave Rangers a penalty which Dorrans converted for the eventual win.

2016/17 - Kilmarnock 1-2 Motherwell

2014/15 - Motherwell 1-0 St Mirren

Coming off the back of a 5-4 aggregate defeat to Icelandic side Stjarnan in Europe Stuart McCall’s side put that disappointment behind them as they secure an opening day three points at home to St Mirren courtesy of Lee Erwin’s 64th minute goal. St Mirren ended the game with 10 men following now manager Jim Goodwin’s sending off.

2013/14 - Hibernian 0-1 Motherwell

Another opening day at Easter Road but this one went the way of the visitors as substitute Henri Anier struck late to snatch the three points.
