Chris Long: Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson delighted as striker signs new one-year contract

Motherwell FC boss Stephen Robinson is delighted that striker Chris Long has returned to the club on a one-year contract.

Former Everton youth player Long had a successful first campaign in claret and amber last season, netting 11 times in 31 matches before falling out of contract this summer.

Robbo told the Motherwell FC website: “It’s great to have Christopher back.

“He made a big impression last season and, once we get him up to speed again, we want to get even more from him this campaign."

Long, who netted a hat-trick in a Scottish Cup win at Dundee last season, said: “I’m buzzing to be back.

“Finishing third last season and qualifying for Europe was huge. I want to pick up from where I left off.”

Long's last goal for Motherwell came in a 1-1 draw at Hearts on March 7 which sealed qualification for the Europa League first qualifying round.

The draw for that one legged tie on August 27 will be made on August 10.
