Motherwell Heritage Centre opens an exhibition on Saturday that celebrates the sporting achievements of the area.
Titled ‘On the Podium’, the displays cover Scottish, UK and international successes by local individuals and teams, both amateur and professional.
Lanarkshire’s achievements on the football field will be well represented with objects on loan from the Scottish Football Museum, including items relating to legends Davie Cooper and John ‘Sailor’ Hunter.
Exhibition curator Sean Curran said: “With the International Children’s Games set to take place in Lanarkshire in August, we thought we’d like to boost our athletes by showcasing previous achievements - as well as looking forward to the stars of the future!”
The exhibition will be open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and from noon on Sundays. It runs until September 30 and admission is free.
