BOXING promotors Chris Gilmour and Paul Graham are joining forces to stage a card at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in March.

It follows the pair’s successful joint promotion at Wishaw Sports Centre a year ago.

This will be the third time Ravenscraig has been used for professional boxing. It is also a frequent venue for amateur boxing tournaments.

Graham, of Bellshill-based Prospect Boxing, said: “It will be a bumper bill with possibly up to 10 fights on the card including, I hope, a few all-Scottish contests and maybe even a Scottish title fight.

“It’s early days, but Chris, myself and Chris’s father, Tommy, will be discussing what fighters are available and, if possible, who can fight whom from their respective camps.

“Looking through the respective rosters, there are some good match ups.”

Initially pencilled in for the card is Motherwell’s International Masters super-flyweight champion, Iain Butcher, along with Sean Watson and Rhys Pagan, from Prospect, while Gilmour will showcase Jordan McCorry, Darren McAdam and Gary McCallum.

Graham anticipates further fighters will be added.

He said: “I will probably have a couple of débutants on the bill should they be licensed in time by the British Boxing Board of Control and I think that Chris has ideas for some of his stable.

“Saturday, March 9 will be a cracking start to the season with all-Scottish fights for some and testing contests for others. Last year Scottish boxing was quite vibrant considering the current economic climate, so let’s hope that can continue in 2013.”

More details will be revealed in the coming weeks and will be made available on Twitter @prospectboxing and Prospect Boxing’s Facebook page.
