Colville Park AFC won the Scottish Amateur Cup for the first time in 40 years when they defeated Fife outfit Leven United 2-1 at Hampden Park.

Liam Cusack’s stunning 20-yard shot for Colville Park was equalised when Murray headed in a 55th minute corner.

But the Motherwell team won it when David McKay blasted the ball in from close range on 75 minutes.

Club secretary Andy Williamson, captain of the 1976 winning team, said: “This means everything to us.

“It was overdue, because that was our fourth final in the past five years.

“It’s amazing we have won it. We are overjoyed to get the monkey off our backs.”
