MOTHERWELL begin their final push for a Champions League qualifying place with a home game against new SPL champions Celtic on Sunday.

Stuart McCall’s men return to action after a break last weekend due to the Scottish Cup semi-finals being staged.

It’s the first round of fixtures after the SPL split with ‘Well leading the charge for third which would secure a spot in the preliminary stages of the world’s biggest club competition.

With five games to play, ‘Well are five points ahead of fourth-placed St Johnstone and six clear of Dundee United. Saints and United meet on Saturday.

McCall welcomes back Steven Hammell and Steve Jennings after suspension, but Keith Lasley, who only recently returned after a two-match ban, is sidelined again.

He has been suspended for one game under totting up rules, having racked up three red cards this season.

Defender Jonathan Page, who was sent off against Hibs, also serves a one-match ban.
