THOUSANDS have been raised for various charities after a celebrity golf event in Motherwell.
The Hugh Reynolds charity tournament at Colville Park Golf Club last Thursday attracted a host of big names including former footballers Willie Pettigrew, Dougie Arnott, Andy Walker, Alan Rough and Tom Boyd.
The all-day fundraiser, now in its second year, was organised by Tony Reynolds in memory of his dad, Hugh, who passed away from cancer, aged 66, in August 2009.
Last year the event raised almost £12,000 for St Andrew’s Hospice and this time donations include £5,230 for the Good Child Foundation, in memory of stabbed Blantyre teenager Reamonn Gormley, £5,000 to actor David Hayman’s charity Spirit Aid and £1,050 to the West Scotland Deaf Children’s Society.
