Tesco is urgently recalling cheese due to listeria contamination - what to do if you’ve bought some

Tesco is recalling one of its cheese brands due to contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

Customers who have purchased the affected product are being advised not to eat it and to return it to stores for a refund.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a recall for Tesco Finest Taleggio because of a listeria contamination.

The product has a pack size of 200g and a use by date of 25 January 2021.

The recall applies to all batch codes of this item.

The presence of listeria monocytogenes can cause flu-like symptoms if consumed, including:

  • high temperature
  • muscle aches and pains
  • chills
  • feeling or being sick
  • diarrhoea

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those aged 65 and over, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Tesco is advising customers who have purchased the affected product not to eat it.

Instead, it should be returned to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt will be required to get your money back.

Tesco has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused and said if shoppers require any further information, they should contact its customer service team.
