Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously hurt in a “violent and unprovoked” attack in Uddingston.

It happened around 10.30pm last Friday night (March 4).

The 22-year-old had walked from Main Street via a lane to the public car park when he was challenged by a group of men standing near the Rowantree Inn.

The group, believed to be in their early 20s, chased him on to Spindlehow Road where he was assaulted.

The victim managed to get away and ran back towards Main Street where he stopped a passing car and called an ambulance.

He was taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment to a head injury.

Detective Constable Leane Holmes said: “This appears to have been a violent and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant injury.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed what happened, or saw a group of men acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Cambuslang CID on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
