Tributes paid after sad death of former town clerk

A FORMER town clerk of Motherwell and Wishaw has passed away at the age of 95.

Alexander McIntosh OBE, known as Sandy, died peacefully at Wishaw General last Tuesday.

Sandy served as town clerk between 1953 and 1973 and successfully proposed a nationwide architectural competition for the building of Motherwell Civic Centre.

He also worked on the joint committee which created Strathclyde Park.
