A Motherwell dad training to be a Church of Scotland minister has won a top university award.

Scott McInnes received the Hector and Jane MacLennan MacLeod Prize at Glasgow University.

It’s for the most outstanding male graduate in single honours in Theology and Religious Studies at Glasgow University.

Scott (31) is originally from the south side of Glasgow. He is now about to start a 15-month probationary placement at Burnside Blairbeth Parish Church, near Rutherglen.

He moved to Motherwell in 2007 and he and his wife, Alison, have a son, Sam, who is nearly two. The couple are members of Motherwell South Parish Church.

Scott was a process engineer in the oil and gas industry before studying theology. He took a one-year inquirers’ course under Rev Gavin Black at Crosshill Parish Church in Motherwell.
