Two teenagers have been detained by police in connection with an alleged attack on a 16-year-old in a New Stevenston park.

John Paul Morrison, of Allan Tower, Motherwell, suffered a serious head injury after a disturbance in Coronation Park during the early hours of Monday morning.

He underwent surgery and remains in Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

A 17-year-old appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday while another is due to stand in the dock today. Since they are under 18 they cannot be named.
