It can’t be much fun wearing a fur coat in the summer, but that didn’t stop animal lovers and their pets from visiting Strathclyde Park for the annual Dogs Trust Glasgow Open Day.

More than £4,200 was raised for the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Uddingston as lots of ex-Dogs Trust residents and new doggy friends went along to support the event.

Dogs Trust vet nurses and North Lanarkshire Council were kept busy as they worked together to microchip over 200 dogs.

The Fun Dog Show proved very popular this year and the Best in Show was won by Ozzy the Beagle, following his victory in the ‘cheekiest puppy’ class).

In addition River City star Keira Lucchesi was present to lend her support and their was fun for humans and animals alike including Glasgow Dog Training Club’s Have-a-go Agility and the Fun Zone for kids.

There was also an array of stalls and games such as raffles and tombolas.

Emma-Louise Livingstone, Dogs Trust Glasgow supporter relations officer, said: “We had an excellent turn out despite it being one of our hottest fun days yet.

“It was a great day and the Dogs Trust Glasgow team would like to thank everyone for coming along.”
