A former Newarthill man has died suddenly two years after retiring to Vietnam.
John McGinn (67), a former Our Lady’s High School pupil, worked as an estimator for a thermal insulation company before emigrating to Canada in 1972.
He lived in Toronto for a spell then moved to Edmonton, continuing to work as an estimator and then a project manager in the pipeline insulation industry.
When John retired two years ago he moved to Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Ann.
John was a keen footballer in his youth. He played for the Our Lady’s High School team and was also a member of a boys’ guild side attached to St Teresa’s Church in his home village of Newarthill.
He still has family in this area.
