YOUNG engineer Ryan Sheridan has triumphed against competitors from across the globe to win a bronze medal at the WorldSkills Competition in London.

The HND graduate in Computer Aided Draught and Design, who studied at Motherwell College, is the only Scottish winner from the UK team to win an accolade at the 41st WorldSkills event.

Bringing together almost 1,000 young people from more than 50 countries, Ryan beat off stiff competition to be named one of the top three young engineers in the world.

The 20-year-old won gold at last year’s 2010 EuroSkills Competition in Portugal, and this recent award affirms Ryan’s position as the best in Europe.
