Hamilton Sheriff Court heard of numerous abusive messages.

Earlier this year a court heard how Elizabeth Murray was “fixated” with Bellshill-based Monika Thomson and tried to take her own life when the medium made it clear they could never be more than friends.

Murray (45), of Easterhouse, Glasgow, was handed an indefinite non-harassment order in March, but this week she was back at Hamilton Sheriff Court to admit breaching it.

Sheriff Allan McKay was told that between July 8 and 13 Murray contacted Ms Thomson repeatedly. Communications included an e-mail and a Whatsapp message that was said to be “lengthy and alarming in content”.

Jailing her, Sheriff McKay told Murray the sentence would have been 12 months but for her early guilty plea.

Murray spent two months in custody earlier this year after admitting stalking and breach of bail charges in relation to Ms Thomson who leads services at Bellshill Christian Spiritualist Church and similar churches throughout Scotland.

During the earlier court hearing Laura Knox, prosecuting, said the women had known each other for years and attended the same church.

She explained: “Murray became fixated with Ms Thomson and said she was in love with her, but Ms Thomson said the relationship could proceed only on a friendship basis.

“She was then bombarded with calls to her landline and mobile numbers, and couldn’t change these numbers because of her business.”

Ms Knox said there were numerous abusive calls, texts and social media messages last year.

In one message Murray said the “spirit guides” had told her Ms Thomson would be “next to die” and would suffer a brain tumour.
