Pupils and staff at St Bernadette’s Primary School have said a fond farewell to popular teacher Marie Taylor.
Mrs Taylor is retiring after more than four decades at the Motherwell school.
She joined St Bernadette’s in 1974, teaching every class in her 41 years there. However, she had a fondness for teaching the younger children, and dedicated many years to the infant department. Mrs Taylor is especially looking forward to her retirement as she has recently become a grandmother to first grandson, one-month-old Harvey. A spokesperson for St Bernadette’s said: “Mrs Taylor has taught the full range of classes since joining in 1974.
“Her preference, however, has always been working in the infant department. Many, many children and parents have very fond memories of Mrs Taylor as their first teacher.
“Mrs Taylor will be a big loss to the school where her experience, energy and enthusiasm will be missed by all. “Mrs Taylor retires with thanks and best wishes from the whole school.”
