Love was in the air at a Motherwell care home last week as the care team served up a special treat for a very special couple.
When resident Margaret Plowman and husband Fred celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary - marking 65 years of marriage - staff at Park Springs Care Home in Frood Street decided a special party was required to recognise mark the amazing milestone.
The home’s cinema room was converted into a party room for the occasion and a buffet lunch and hand-made cake was served up for guests.
The 65th wedding anniversary is also known as the blue sapphire wedding anniversary. According to the International Coloured Gemstone Association, blue sapphires stand for loyalty, allegiance and faithfulness.
Care manager Gillian Greenshield said that staff and guests were delighted to pay tribute to such a special couple in such a memorable way.
She said: “Margaret and Fred are a wonderful couple so we were so pleased that we could make their day even more special.
“It was lovely to see them enjoying their day with relatives and friends. Everyone had a brilliant time.”
