Brandon Shopping Centre has welcomed two new clients as it is all set for a change of identity.

The centre is currently undergoing a £450,000 facelift and when completed will be known as Motherwell Shopping Centre.

Greeting cards store Party House opened at the weekend after taking over the lease of the former JJB Sports shop in Brandon Parade South.

It was joined by Select Furniture which moved into Brandon Parade East, offering a wide range of home furnishings, fabrics and accessories.

William Gear, director of centre owner Chester Properties, said: “We are delighted to welcome two new outlets to the town centre, and we are confident that our refurbishment programme will mean we can add to the variety the centre offers, by attracting more new retailers over the next few months.”

The canopies at the Brandon Parade South entrance to the centre have already been removed and Chester has released graphics showing how it will look when the upgrade is complete, with dramatic new archways at both entrances.

Mr Gear said: “We are delighted to have reached the stage of instructing our contractor on the latest phase of our extensive refurbishment work on the centre

“It will make a visit to the shopping centre a much more enjoyable experience for the shoppers who are our valued customers, and it will make Motherwell a more attractive location for new businesses and retailers.”

The refurbishment also includes cleaning high level canopies and panels, making a floodlit feature of the Dome and new signage on the blank walls fronting onto West Hamilton Street and the Brandon South car park.
