A MOTHERWELL soldier has been performing at this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Lance Corporal Scott Slaven (22) performed on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade with the pipes and drums of the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS).

The former Braidhurst High School pupil said: “It was a wonderful experience playing with the massed pipes and drums at the world famous event.

“There were 11 bands of pipes and drums in total playing each night including guest pipes and drums from Australia, Germany, and Oman.

“The Tattoo which ran throughout August also had military brass bands from Brazil, Germany and the Netherlands taking part.

“And, as it was a Royal Navy-themed Tattoo this year, 140 musicians of the Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, as well as the Field Gun display teams also entertained the sell-out audiences.”
