A number of roads throughout the Motherwell and Bellshill areas are set to be closed or partially closed over the next few months while resurfacing is carried out.

Contractors undertaking carriageway Nimpactocote works have applied to North Lanarkshire Council to impose temporary closure and restrictions on various roads in Bellshill, Newarthill, New Stevenston, Craigneuk and Motherwell.

Roads affected include - McCallum Gardens, McLean Drive, Rosebank Road and Croftpark Street, all Bellshill; Martin Place, Carron Way and Clarinda Place, all Newarthill; Bracken Street and Thistle Road, both New Stevenston; Gateside Road, Craigneuk and Arran Road, Motherwell.

The order for the closures is due to come into effect on 0.01am on Monday, August 18, and last until 11.59pm on Friday, October 31.

The work will be carried out as part of a rolling programme and therefore not all the roads will be closed at the same time.

Appropriate diversion signing will be in place, advising drivers of the restrictions during each closure associated with the works.

Although diversions will be in place, where appropriate, in some cases there will be no alternative route available.

Vehicular access to adjacent roads will be maintained, where possible, by arrangement with the contractor during each closure. Pedestrian access will be permitted at all times, where applicable.
