Central Scotland list MSP Richard Lyle has been seeing first hand the contribution a modern pharmacy makes to its community.
Mr Lyle was at Lloyds Pharmacy in North Road, Bellshill, for a visit organised by Community Pharmacy Scotland, which represents the owners of Scotland’s 1232 community pharmacies.
As a member of the Scottish Parliaments’ health and sport committee, he is asked to consider and report on health policy and the NHS in Scotland.
Mr Lyle said: “It was very interesting to visit a local pharmacy to see how they are dealing with the demands of the various health issues in the area.”
Community Pharmacy Scotland is keen to demonstrate to MSPs the increasing role that pharmacies now have on the health practices of local communities.
Robert Brownlie, cluster manager for Lloyds Pharmacy, said: “Community pharmacists are becoming partners in the delivery of healthcare, helping to improve not only the health and well-being of whole communities but of individuals who can come to their pharmacist for advice and care.”
