Residents to help shape equalities strategy

A MAJOR community consultation on equality is to take place in North Lanarkshire.

Residents throughout the area will have their chance to shape future strategy aimed at tackling key equality issues including race, disability and sex discrimination and harassment.

The Equality for All conference is due to take place between 11am and 3pm on Saturday at Cumbernauld New Town Hall.

A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council said: “This is the final year of our current Equality Strategy and a review has been underway since April.

“This is an extremely important event which will help shape the council’s future direction. We need the people of North Lanarkshire to work with us.”

The venue is fully accessible and British Sign Language interpreters will be available throughout the day.
