Lidl is giving the public a chance to comment on plans for its new store in Motherwell’s Windmillhill Street.

A consultation event will take place in the current Lidl store on Tuesday, September 13, between 3pm and 7pm.

The supermarket revealed earlier this year that it wanted to build a brand new store on the site of the existing building as part of its ongoing expansion in the UK.

The multi-million pound investment would create up to 20 new jobs with features including an instore bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing facilities, customer toilets and more parking for cars and bicycles.

Lidl, named ‘Best Supermarket 2016’ by readers of Good Housekeeping, hopes to submit a planning application next month.
