Police keeping open mind on Bellshill robberies

POLICE are not ruling out a connection between the two robberies which took place in Bellshill last week.

Robbers targeted the town’s Spar store and McDonalds Restaurant within 24 hours of each other.

A three-figure sum of cash was taken in the first heist at McDonalds Restaurant on New Edinburgh Road around 8.30pm last Tuesday.

Two men entered the popular eatery and threatened staff with weapons before making off with the cash.

They left on foot along New Edinburgh Road towards the Belziehill Farm roundabout.

The following day, the Spar store on Calder Road was targeted around 8.30pm.
