RETIRING Bellshill police commander Angus McPhail this week praised the work done by his officers to strengthen links with the local community over his five years in the post.
Chief Inspector McPhail retires next month after a 30-year career in the force.
And he says that since taking over at Bellshill in 2006, the efforts made to make the force more approachable and closer to the local community has given him the greatest satisfaction.
He said: “It was a bit daunting because I had spent a lot of time within the traffic department and adjusting to the operational side of the division was quite a challenge.
“But I think we have proved by developing links with our partners just what a difference we can make.”
