Police are appealing for witnesses after a Bellshill shop was robbed by a man who threatened elderly staff members.

The robbery at Lawmuir Stores in Lawmuir Road took place around 9.30am last Tuesday, December 23.

A male entered the premises from the direction of Community Road and threatened two members of staff before making off with a small sum of money, again in the direction of Community Road.

The staff members were uninjured but were left shaken as a consequence.

The man is described as white, in his late 20s to late 30s and between five feet 10 and six feet tall.

He was wearing a grey ‘tammy’ with a dark coloured scarf covering his face, a dark blue jacket, black gloves, black tracksuit bottoms and a pair of grey Adidas trainers. He is also described as having a prominent nose.

Detective Constable Chris Norton, of Wishaw CID said, today: “Thankfully no one was injured during the robbery, however, it was a very frightening experience for the elderly women who staffed the shop.”
