It’s still the best part of three months away - but X Factor star Nicky McDonald is already trying to raise some festive cheer at Yorkhill Hospital.
The Motherwell teenager, who this time last year was preparing to embark on the remarkable journey which took him all the way to the final of the competition, visited the hospital last week to launch its Christmas concert.
Nicholas helped to launch the sale of tickets for the event, at which he will be one of the performing acts and which will take place on Sunday, December 14.
After his X Factor success Nicky became an official ambassador for the hospital where he received treatment after he was diagnosed as a sufferer from the rare and life threatening heart condition Long QT syndrome.
Nicky spent time as a patient on the cardiology ward at Yorkhill and is fully committed to this year’s Christmas campaign to encourage the people of Scotland to support children being treated at Yorkhill and its related services.
He said: “Christmas is an extra special time of year for the children being treated at Yorkhill and the charity always goes that little bit further to make a difference for them.
“I still get so excited in the run up to Christmas! I don’t want the patients to miss out on any of this excitement so I hope as many people as possible purchase tickets for the Christmas concert or help in whatever way they can to support the charity and bring lots of festive cheer to Yorkhill.”
The concert will be extra special for 50 lucky fans, who will meet Nicky on the night as part of a special ‘meet and greet’ ticket package.
Tickets cost just £18 for adults, £13 for children under 12 and £50 for the Nicky McDonald Meet & Greet package.
Last year Yorkhill Children’s Charity raised over £4.3 million and will continue to support the new children’s hospital.
