A NEW resident, tenant and landlord group for Woodville Rise in Forgewood will be set up at a meeting in Braidhurst High on Tuesday.

Among those invited are Link Housing property serving co-ordinator Ann Gribben, the council’s regeneration manager for Coatbridge and Motherwell Michele Battersby and local politicians.

The meeting starts at 6.30pm when plans outlined to tackle the issues affecting the area will be discussed. Issues include factoring services for the blocks after Link Housing Association gave a notice of termination in July.

After several meetings and negotiation, Link has agreed to continue factoring in 22 blocks. However, this means that, 21 blocks are no longer being factored.

Local resident Ray Gunnion said: “It is important that we, even now, try to bring as many of these 21 blocks back into the factoring system. The spectre of a coming winter and future years without block insurance and adequate maintenance does not bode well for many in our community.”
