Two men have been jailed for assault after a disturbance at an Uddingston pub.

Michael McAteer (25), of Pandora Way, Tannochside, was handed a 20-month prison stretch at Hamilton Sheriff Court. He admitted assaulting Dominic Philips to his severe injury and permanent impairment at the Anvil Inn on September 28 last year.

McAteer punched Mr Philips (45), causing him to fall, then kicked him on the body as he lay on the floor.

The court heard the victim suffered a broken jaw and is still having problems a year down the line.

Gerald Burns (31), of Laird Grove, Tannochside, was jailed for 18 months. He admitted punching John Gardiner repeatedly, causing a cut and swelling to his face.
