North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre in Motherwell hoisted the Jolly Rodger and set sail for some swashbuckling fun on Fair Monday.
The fun day was themed to the centre’s current exhibition, Pirates - Fact and Fiction.
Activities included outdoor games, a pirate hunt, crafts, facepainting and storytelling.
Lots of visitors got into the spirit by dressing in pirate costume, with pieces of eight on offer for the best.
Pirates - Fact and Fiction runs until August 16 and is a fun-filled journey through pirate history, film and literature; from the Cicilian pirates of Roman times, to the ‘golden age’ of pirates of the Caribbean.
Meet Vikings, Barbary corsairs and Chinese pirates on the way and discover facts about their ships, weapons tactics and usually short lives and get the chance to view costumes, weapons, models and examples of discovered treasure.
The centre is open Mondays-Saturdays from 9.30am-4.30pm and admission is free.
