MSP John Pentland has urged anyone with concerns about Motherwell’s Avondale Nursing Home to get in touch with him.
His move follows concern at Care Inspectorate findings revealed last week which ranked the home, in Cornelia Street, as among the worst in Scotland following an inspection there in September.
The Motherwell and Wishaw MSP said: “I am not surprised to hear concerns about this nursing home, since I have previously written to the Care Inspectorate and North Lanarkshire Council about a constituent’s experiences there.
“I wrote last year on behalf of a constituent whose family were so concerned that her needs were not being met that they arranged for her to move to another care home.
“At that time the Care Inspectorate said that they had recently carried out an inspection, had set out requirements for improvements, were liaising with the council, and would be monitoring progress.
“The Care Inspectorate investigation of the case concluded that my constituent’s needs had not been met in several respects, and issued various deadlines for action on each.
“Clearly despite these interventions, problems remain because the Inspectorate is still calling for further improvements, and say they working closely with the home to ensure that more effective action is taken.”
