Town Centre Activities Local is working with Brandon Shopping Centre and getting set to light up Motherwell town centre for Christmas with a packed programme of entertainment.

Scottish singer songwriter Carrie Mac, who has performed with The Wanted, The Saturdays and Alexandra Burke, will be in Motherwell on Thursday, November 17, to help kick-start the festive shopping period.

The event, which takes place in Brandon Parade, starts at 3.30pm and will be hosted by Real Radio’s Ewen Cameron and STV’s Josie Smith.

Leading up to the all important switch on there will also be entertainment from Blok Dance Troupe, X-Factor contestant Nicole Simpson and Motherwell’s very own Michael Bublé tribute act, Kevin Rodger.

Town centre co-ordinator Jack Duffy said: “The Christmas lights switch on marks the start of the festive shopping period for Motherwell town centre.

“We’ve put together a great programme of entertainment to get everyone in the festive spirit and I hope to see people come out to support their local town centre and get involved in some Christmas fun.

“There will also be games and competitions on the day, with prizes to be won courtesy of Wilkinson, Motherwell, and there will be activities throughout the town centre for the kids to enjoy.”

Of course no light switch on would be complete without a visit from Santa and he’ll be bringing along his magic post box for youngsters to post their letters to the North Pole.
