A major project to renew gas mains will get under way in Motherwell’s Windmillhill Street on Monday.
The work being carried out by SGN, formerly known as Scotland Gas Networks, forms the second and final phase of an upgrade programme and is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
During the works it will not be possible for eastbound traffic to turn right from Windmillhill Street into Knowetop Avenue. Traffic will also not be able to turn right from Knowetop Avenue into Windmillhill Street.
The works have been planned in collaboration with North Lanarkshire Council and local diversions will be in place.
SGN Team Manager Glenn Feist said: “We will be replacing the existing metal gas mains with modern plastic polyethylene pipe which has a minimum lifespan of around 80 years and will ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply for the local community for many years to come.
“We understand that roadworks can be frustrating and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out our essential works.“
