Detectives investigating a serious assault on a teenage boy in Craigneuk last month have made a new plea for information.
Around 4.30pm on Monday, March 21, the 15 year-old was walking along Laurel Drive with a friend when he was attacked by a group of youths.
The attack was unprovoked and left the victim with a serious facial injury.
The group of youths, possibly six, were male, white with local accents and were aged between 15–17 years.
The attack was reported the next day and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple said: “This cowardly, unprovoked attack happened near to a local Spar shop and we know the young boy and his friend had been in the shop before he was assaulted.
“I am appealing to local people to contact us, perhaps you too had been in the shop, did you notice a group of youths hanging about? Do you know who they are?
“It’s clear these youths were intent on causing trouble and unfortunately a young 15 year-old boy was their target.
“Anyone could have been targeted by this group, if you have any information or knowledge about the incident or those involved, then please do contact us.
“Your information could be vital in our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Wishaw Police Office on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can remain anonymous and pass on information.
