Foster carers campaign

A CAMPAIGN has been launched in a bid to recruit skilled and experienced foster carers by North Lanarkshire Council.

It aims to recruit carers with the right experience who will provide support for vulnerable children with complex needs and challenging behaviour on a one to one basis.

Potential foster carers must have a spare room and be free from any other childcare or work commitments.

In return, the council will provide a payment of up to £26k pa plus allowances and four weeks paid respite a year.

Councillor Sam Love, convener of housing and social work services, said: “We’re aiming to recruit up to six carers in the first two years.

“From my own experience of fostering a young person, it can help transform lives for the better, and I want more young people to have the opportunity of a stable environment where they can achieve their potential, whatever their start in life.”
