Owner Cameron Dalziel put a message up on Facebook offering to ferry members of the emergency services between their home and work in 4x4s.

Cameron and his team, Greg Biggam, William Dalziel, Eddie McNeil and Paul McGowan, travelled all over the central belt including as far afield as Dumbarton and Stirling from Wednesday through to the weekend.

Also offering their support were Alex Crawford, Jamie Rowlands, Robert Codona, Colin Dickson and Jason McLellan, plus the trio of Dougie Stokes, Scott Anthony and David Carruthers from LM Recovery.

Cameron said: “The Facebook post was shared over 750 times and I would like to thank everyone for the hundreds of comments and likes.

“People who knows me know I don’t do things for publicity, I do it out of a decent heart, nothing more and nothing less.

“We had the privilege to rescue consultants, doctors and nurses, as well as home helps, and also took nurses out to do home visits to allow dialysis.

“I think we did well as a group and I want to thank all the guys for their help and support.”

Meanwhile, the players of Dalziel Rugby Club offered their services on Saturday to help with clearing snow, particularly for the most vulnerable in our community.

They asked Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig councillor Agnes Magowan if she could suggest areas within her ward in need of attention and got to work at Hatton Terrace, Firpark Secondary, Wren Place, Glenview Court and surrounding houses, Mission Place and a number of private driveways.”

Councillor Magowan said: “These young men gave up their Saturday to help vulnerable people in Motherwell and Wishaw, it was great to see the community pulling together at this difficult time.”
