With the Viewpark Conservative Group holding its annual Hallowe’en Freaky Forest event on Friday, October 26, it was decided the time was right to give the Glen a spruce up.

Councillor Bonnar arranged for protective equipment to be provided for both adults and children, who then got to work filling dozens of bags and clearing other junk.

He said: “Thanks to everyone who came along. We are hardly touching the sides, but the hard work of the folk from this area, giving their free time, should be commended.

“The Glen is so beautiful. What’s been allowed to happen is shocking, and some of the fault must lie with the council, but as a community, we have to take some responsibility too.

“If we don’t care for it, there are folk out there who would like to see it done away with and more buildings and factories put in place – as a Viewparker that gives me the boak!

“We’ll be doing another one soon for those who sent me apologies, your support is appreciated as always.”
