The Viewpark Allotments and Gardens received the Jim Murdie Trophy for Sustainability at the Keep Scotland Beautiful award ceremony in Haddington.

The allotments were commended for becoming a thriving space utlised by a wide section of the community, with environmental awareness high on the agendas.

Uddingston Pride accepted the award on their behalf and the following week the organisation’s Liz Wilson and Sandy Robertson handed over the award to Susanne Mallin and Kevin Gough.

Uddingston Pride themselves were awarded ‘silver gilt’ in the Urban Community category.

Brighter Bothwell won ‘gold’ in the Small Town category and also presented with the Haddington 700 Award, which recognises the ongoing work of Bothwell Horticultural Society and the links between the two groups.
