During the month of September, P7 pupils at Our Lady and St Francis Primary in Carfin broke off into political parties all aiming to be elected as the pupil council for 2013/14.

Each group developed detailed manifestos and set about wooing the P3-7 electorate, making presentations during school assemblies.

Following a secret ballot it was ‘Children’s Choice’ who won the election and they will make up the bulk of the council along with delegates from each class.

P7 teacher Martyn Dinsmor said: “The pupil council have a lot of work and responsibilities ahead of them and we will see if their manifesto leaves a lasting mark on our school in the year to come.”
