FORMER pupils and staff went ‘back to school’ last week when they visited Calder Primary for a special farewell open evening before the school closes later this month.
There was a vast range of memorabilia on display and the evening was so enjoyable for those who attended that it overran for more than an hour.
Acting headteacher Molli Scott said: “There was a lovely atmosphere and we were delighted, and astounded, at the turnout of former pupils and of former members of staff.
“People were checking the registers to look for their names and those of their friends, checking the dux boards and chatting to people they hadn’t seen for a while.
“All the classrooms were available for people to see the work being done today and we also had a Fairtrade cafe and fridge magnets, bookmarks and a special book of Calder fairytales were available for a donation.”
The school will close its doors for the last time on Wednesday, June 26, with most pupils transferring to either Glencairn or Muir Street Primary.
