Bellshill man Robert (81) was employed with the electricity board.

The pair tied the knot on March 31, 1956, at St Margaret’s Church in Muirhouse.

After marrying, Robert and Emily moved to Hope Street in Mossend, before moving to the Bellshill area to set up home and raise their family, and they’ve lived in the town ever since.

They have a daughter, Ann, and a son, Ian, as well as five grandchildren - Barry, Pamela, David, Ian and Jason - and two great grandchildren - Kai and Leo.

Now retired, Robert still enjoys the odd round of golf - though he is thinking about finally putting his clubs away if his game doesn’t improve!

Emily is a keen knitter and has made 37 shawls as well as countless hats for babies being cared for in the neonatal ward at Wishaw General Hospital.

They celebrated reaching the special milestone by having dinner with the family at Dalziel Park.

The family would like to thank all who sent cards and gifts to help them mark the special occasion.
