James and Sadie Gaffney from Holytown have been celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple met at the local youth club aged 18 and 16 respectively while playing badminton and were married on September 24, 1958, at St John Bosco’s Church in New Stevenston.
James and Sadie have three children, Sean, Brian and Beverley, and five grandchildren. They enjoy travelling and their favourite hot spot is Tenerife which they visit a few times a year.
They were joined by North Lanarkshire provost Jean Jones and depute lieutenant Janet Low, who presented them with a card, whisky and flowers on behalf of the council.
