Dalziel High

PUPILS from Dalziel took part in an energy challenge competition organised through Go4Set.

This also involved nine other schools, mostly from South Lanarkshire, and the pupils had to research the topic of biomass and then write a report based on their findings.

They decided to use a system based on wood pellets and over 10 weeks spent lunchtimes and time after school working on the project.

After researching data, working together as a team and building a model based on their ideas the team produced a report, made up items for a display board and took the model to the presentation day at the County Buildings in Hamilton.

They met other competitors and talked to them about their projects and, after the projects were judged, were pleasantly surprised to be given the students’ award, receiving a framed certificate and money as a prize.

SPORTS NEWS: Dalziel’s athletes are in practice for the county and school sports.

Relay heats this week at Wishaw are closely followed by County Sports Day 1 at the same venue next week.

The school sports date has been changed due to unavoidable issues with transport. Heats days are Thursday, June 7, for S1-3, and Friday, June 8, for S4-6, with finals day on Monday, June 11.

The following day those fortunate enough to gain a finals day place journey back to Wishaw for Day 2 of the county event.

SUMMER FAYRE: Dalziel’s summer fayre will take place in the school grounds next Thursday from 3-4pm.
