Violent footpath incident involving theft has led to arrests of 16 year olds on Easter Sunday

Police have confirmed that two suspects have been traced following a violent incident in Holytown.

And it has been confirmed that the pair were arrested on Easter Sunday after officers caught up with them.

It is alleged that the two16-year-old males lashed out on a public footpath near Redwood Road the day before.

They were arrested for alleged assault and theft after police were called in.

One of the men was held in custody and was expected to have appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court by time of going to press.

The second man is due to appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile a report on his alleged conduct during this incident has been sent to the procurator fiscal in Hamilton.
