A man who stalked his former partner after their relationship ended has been ordered to pay her £400 compensation.
Loveraj Purewal bombarded the Motherwell woman with Facebook messages, e-mails and texts. He also kept phoning her, sent letters and left gifts at her home, telling her he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Purewal (33), formerly of Broadcairn Court, Motherwell, and now living in East Kilbride, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week. He admitted engaging in a course of conduct between August 11 and September 5 last year which caused his former partner fear and alarm.
Purewal had earlier denied the charge and was due to go to trial. However, after failing to appear for the trial he finally changed his plea to guilty.
His victim declined to comment on the case, but said she was relieved it was over and she didn’t have to go through the ordeal of giving evidence.
Sheriff Douglas Brown ordered Purewal to pay compensation at £80 per month.
