A man who took part in a vicious attack which left the victim unconscious has been jailed for two and a half years.

Craig Morris (35), of Coursington Tower, Motherwell, was sentenced at Hamilton Sheriff Court. He admitted that, while acting with unnamed others, he assaulted Angus Starkey in Merry Street, Motherwell, on April 20.

The victim was punched and kicked repeatedly and then, after he fell, his attackers stamped repeatedly on his head.

Sheriff Joyce Powrie heard Morris has a previous conviction for assault.
